Taking Back Your Health – The Nutrition Facts You Need To Know.
Most people only believe what their doctor’s say and don’t question it. You have a cold or headache, family and friends will usually say. “Oh you have to go see the doctor or take a pill.” Too few wonder on the cause of their various illnesses. Our medical system tends to deal with the symptoms – not the causes. Here are three types of healing.
1. Allopathic Medicine: a method of treating disease by creating remedies that produce effects which differs from those of the disease itself.
2. Holistic medicine: is used to treat the person’s whole state
3. Orthomolecular medicine: A form of alternative medicine that aims to prevent and cure disease by using specific doses of vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids, trace minerals, electrolytes, and other natural substances.
As to the first one: this describes the bast majority of what we see advertised on the main networks on TV. These are often contained in the “Ask your Doctor” type commercials which are so prevalent. This type of medicine is mainly masks the symptoms disease. Generally the diseases are “named” and “cClassified” and then a treatment is offered to handle the manifestations. As with a growing number of people, my husband and I have concluded that the best and most basic approach to truly excellent health is through holistic and orthomolecular methods.
Of course, there are a few life changes you can and should make that will reduce your doctor’s office visits. Anyone can make these changes without much effort. But you have to make those changes and for some it will not be easy. I can tell you what my husband and I did. By making these changes we have improved out health substantially:
1. For starters, we began eating mostly organic foods. Previously we did most of our shopping at the large discount places – buying the cheaper meats. Both of us, especially Ken, began to show signs of swelling, sometimes called edema. In our research we found that this was a result of the growth hormones which we were ingesting in our meats. Further, we found that the best source of protein is eating good healthy meat – and that these proteins are essential to health. That meat, we found, needed to be naturally grown – grass-fed and hormone-free. By making this change both of us leaned out, lost our edema and noticed big changes in the way we felt. One of the things I had to do was to find sources for our food. Again, Publix, I found, had a great variety of organic vegetables. This allowed us to ingest foods that were free of Hormones, pesticides and additives. We found a local farm that produces and sells grass fed beef and free range chickens. The Publix meat at the time we wrote this article is not grass fed. But it is better than the standard variety. There are other resources which you can find with a bit of research.
2. We began switching to cleaner and more organic shampoos, toothpaste, dish soap, laundry and body soaps. We did this because, in our research, we realized that our skin is the largest organ on the body and that anything we put ON or body is almost as much an effect upon us as what we put IN our bodies.
3. And we found (actually stumbled upon almost by accident) a group of researchers which had researched and created their own formulas (based on Nobel Prize winning scientific (and undisputed) research). This group has a story which is beyond belief and is unique to any that I have ever seen. After seeking and trying so many vitamins and other nutrients to make up for the lackings in everyday food we found we were totally blown away about this group. These folks had given up on standard medicine – having mostly been given up as lost souls. They found one another and banded together to find solutions to their various health issues – and began to learn of the commonality of cause. A very important aspect to the success of these formulas is that we take them in liquid form. There is much research on this and the increased absorption that this allows. We mix these formulas as powders mixed in water We’ve done this since 2007.
We think it best to learn from an follow the most basic, and indisputable research created by Nobel Laureate winners such as Dr. Linus Pauling, Otto Warburg, Dr. Keith Brewer and others (including Louis Ignarro who found the direct link to high blood pressure and lack of N.O.). Their common thread was “Orthomolecular” medicine which is the study of health through nutrition at the cellular level. Orthomolecular protocol could be described as giving back to the body that with which it was born and the body will heal itself. If you care about your health (and of course you do) you need to become educated so that you can take control of your own health.
After the 3 years taking these formulas (inexpensive and simple) we are leaner than ever, Ken’s blood pressure has fallen well into normal ranges and we see evidence every day of how wonderful we feel. Actually, it almost becomes common place and we forget about it. No pains, no joint pains, non of the aging issues which creep into everyone’s lives as their bodies loose the basic ingredients to health.
