Washable Dog Beds – Why Are They Best?
It’s pretty important to have a bed for your dog. Dogs just need to be able to have a spot to call their own and nothing fits the bill like a dog bed. With the huge selection in beds for dogs, you may wonder why washable dog beds are recommended.
Perhaps the most important reason is that if your dog has his bed inside your home, wouldn’t you want to be able to keep it clean? Think about it for a minute. You regularly wash the sheets from your bed to keep them fresh and clean. Why wouldn’t you want your four legged friend to have a clean bed to lie on?
And really it’s not just for him. After all, you share the space with him. If his bed isn’t washable, sooner or later, you will notice it has a doggy smell which will only get stronger and more unpleasant over time.
Because washable dog beds can be laundered, they will not become a breeding ground for mites or fleas. Yes, you can use flea powder on your pet and even put a flea collar on him. But despite these treatments, he will get re-infested with fleas if his bedding has fleas.
Even sprinkling flea powder on the bed won’t do as effective a job of getting rid of the pests as actually washing the bed.
Yet another reason for choosing a washable bed is cleanliness. There is no doubt that if your dog likes to go outside and play, he will get dirty, at least sometimes. Maybe he rolls around in the grass, or chases a squirrel through some brush, or splashes through puddles. Regardless of what he does, some of this stuff will stick to his paws and coat.
When he comes back inside, you would probably prefer that he lay on his bed rather than the carpet or sofa. The dirt from outdoors gets transferred to his bed and it stays there unless it’s cleaned regularly. If the bed isn’t cleaned, it quickly gets pretty grimy.
An alternative to a washable dog bed is to get a bed that has a removable cover that can be washed. If you go this way, be sure not to wait too long before laundering the cover. Or else, the dirt and smell may penetrate right into the bed. If that happens, it will be very difficult to get rid of.
So you see, washable dog beds are an excellent choice when it comes to finding a bed for your favorite canine friend. You’ll be sure to be satisfied.
A comfortable bed is a great way to show your dog that you care. Dogs love to feel warm and cozy. A heated dog bed is the ultimate in comfort. On the other hand, some dogs prefer the soft padded cushion and the bolster which doubles as a pillow in a bolster dog bed.
