What you need to look at is not the overall situation of getting a puppy but try to understand every case on an individual basis. If you are checking properly the place from where your are getting your puppy, whether from a pet store, online breeder, or even a classified seller, then you can be fairly positive that you are not getting a puppy that has been bred in a puppy mill.

The flourishing puppy mills can be stopped only by using the above method. Most of the people would say that if you are getting your puppy from a pet store then you are helping out puppy mills. This is not the case in every situation.

There are many pet stores that don’t get their puppies from puppy mills, and there are many puppy breeders who run clean operations which are as far removed from puppy mills as chalk is from cheese. Many of these operations are sanctioned and certified as being the genuine article, and with a little research and diligence on your part you can contain your obtainment of a puppy to these places.
